About the Book:
Job search in Canada is a full-time job, not a casual step. It is very much the same for all job seekers (new Canadians and seasoned Canadians alike). The unstated formula is: full-time search for full-time jobs, part-time search may lead you to part-time jobs, and the rest is left to your imagination. With emphasis on a full-time job search, this book shows the pathways that work and strongly recommends learning best practices. The bottom line is, if your resume doesn't "work," neither will you. Being casual is just one point to bear. More such considerations include myths, mistakes and misconceptions in job search.
This book is a culmination of over six years of invaluable process of learning, experience, and involvement in the Canadian job market. The book presents the result of a survey (from respondents, such as, job seekers, job developers, etc.), acceptable job applications. JOB SEARCH: THE CANADIAN WAY visualizes What Works and What Doesn't in the Canadian job market. This book offers tips for the job search as a holistic process. Written in easy language, What Doesn't Work in the Canadian job market is a unique guide that should not be overlooked by any candidate looking for an opportunity.
JOB SEARCH: THE CANADIAN WAY, in short, deals with job searching, preparing a cover letter that matches the advertised job, a resume that fits the needs of an employer, and handling the pre-interview and post-interview processes. Herein you get a template
to record your job search process. And, details as prescribed in private and public sector (e.g., guidelines from Ontario, Ministry of Training).
Interestingly, as the Canadian job market continues to be competitive and the ways of looking for a job are still evolving, this book comes at just the right time, with an abundance of advice and practical exercises for all job searches. This book will, therefore, help in understanding how best to market yourself in a volatile environment, selecting the best cover letter & resume template that shows precisely what hiring companies are looking for, and will prepare you for an interview in ways that work and which will ensure you secure the desired job.

"Finding a job in Canada is a huge task in itself. To add to the challenges is the fact that immigrants have to adapt to a new way of applying for and securing that elusive job. This book outlines everything that immigrants need to know in a simple straightforward manner. I hope immigrants use this to find their Canadian dream!'"
Apol E. Apuntar Gateway to canada
"JOB SEARCH: THE CANADIAN WAY is a must-have book for New Canadians and for those seeking to live and work in Canada. It presents a no-nonsense and practical guide to achieve every job seeker's goal - to land a job that they want and deserve."
Prof. Krishan Kumar, Toronto, ON
"Job search is an excellent piece of work, written for seasoned Canadians as well recent immigrants to Canada. It tells about what works and what does not work in Canada. Other books in the market hardly tell the reader about what does not work. Flow charts and tables make the book interesting and easy to follow. Being an immigrant, I would recommend that every immigrant to Canada must read this book so as to be successful in getting an appropriate job that meets his / her aspirations."
Habeeb Alli, Toronto, ON (Author of Happiness: Naked Truths)
Having such a book, after going through the Immigrant drill, helping the unemployed and reading What Colour is Your Parachute, this book surely makes job search scientifically easy and definitive. A must for every job agency and Canadian. Taher has again done a brilliant job!"
Dr. Davendra K. Gupta, (Documentation Research Training Centre, Bangalore alumni), Windsor, ON
